Celebrating yet another milestone, Good Earth – India’s leading design house, unveiled their collaboration with Rohit Bal over an intimate shopping party. Hosted at the Good Earth flagship store at Raghuvanshi Mills in association with Harper’s Bazaar India, the event shared a glimpse into “Husn e Taairaat”, a special home and apparel capsule collection designed by the master couturier.
Simran Lal – CEO, Good Earth; Nonita Kalra – Editor, Harper’s Bazaar India and Rohit Bal played gracious hosts to guests including, Devieka and Suresh Bhojwani, Sandeep Khosla, Geetu Hinduja, Devita Saraf, Suhel Seth, Vikram Raizada, Payal Khandwala, Kim Sharma, Neerja Shah, Parmesh Shahani amongst others. Husn e Taairaat (beauty of a bird in Persian) marks Rohit Bal’s debut in home décor and is inspired by the designer’s 2015 Couture collection.
The capsule was conceptualized for the 2016 festive season and evokes a #FlightOfFancy with its beautiful representation of signature Rohit Bal motifs. From the omnipresent long-tailed peacocks to multi-coloured lotuses and other magical flora and fauna, Husn e Taairaat is rendered in a vintage Pichwai painting style.
The mis-en-scène was resplendent with details that paid tribute to their shared love of Persian arts, nature and a reverence for Mughal history. Outfits from Rohit’s couture collection were displayed alongside looks from the capsule to create a vivid tableau depicting the coming together of the worlds of Rohit Bal and Good Earth.
The highlight of the evening was the home décor line, which was displayed taking inspiration from Dutch still life paintings in a vintage setting that highlighted the signature motifs. ‘I’ve always known that if I had to design a range of home products, it would be with Good Earth. We have been keen to collaborate on a creative project for a long time and this collection is an incredible meeting of our sensibilities” – said Rohit Bal. Speaking about this new collaboration Simran Lal, CEO shared – “We collaborate with like-minded designers because it helps us push our boundaries and offer something exclusive to our patrons.
This collection will be especially interesting for young, urban millennials looking to add a piece of the Rohit Bal signature to their arsenal of style, in the easy to enjoy Good Earth aesthetic of everyday luxury. We’ve created an interesting mix of enchanting gifts and elegant silhouettes that effortlessly embody Rohit Bal for Good Earth.“
